Create Content on Social Media to Grow your Network Marketing Business
Before we dive into how to create content with purpose, let us evaluate the term inbound marketing. You may (or may not) be familiar with this term. But, we believe when you have the understanding everything else falls into place. These strategies are imperative, in our opinion, to network marketers. This includes seasoned professionals and brand new distributors too.
In fact, brand new network marketers to some degree are at an advantage because they have yet to create habits working against them.
What is Inbound Marketing?
Inbound marketing is the technique or skill for drawing customers to products and/or services through two (2) channels;
- Social Media Marketing
- Content Marketing
Now, to be fair there is a third channel known as search engine optimization (SEO). However, if you are not already an existing blogger or website owner – let’s table this skill for another time. The primary reason is that you can build and establish a 6+ figure income using the two (2) channels mentioned above.
What is Social Media Marketing?
Social media marketing is the process of gaining traffic or attention through social media sites. The primary social media site we teach in our communities is Facebook.
This isn’t because we believe other outlets are less effective or more difficult but instead, Facebook is a full-blown social networking site that allows for sharing updates, photos, joining events and a variety of other activities. In other words, Facebook has a depth and width about it that network marketers can be super successful using solely this platform the right way.
What is Content Marketing?
Content marketing is a type of marketing that involves the creation and sharing of online material (such as videos, blogs, and social media posts) that does not explicitly promote a brand or company, but is intended to stimulate interest in its products or services.
This leads us into the the necessity and strategy as it relates to effective ways to create content.
Content creation powers a successful inbound marketing strategy. It has the very important job of guiding people from one part of the journey to the next. By attracting the audience to a video or post, converting them into leads and nurturing them into a sale.
Content is also what entertains our customers into becoming distributors or reps.
There are a lot of ways we can deliver these messages;
- Social Media Posts & Images
- Live Streaming
- Blogs, websites
… but without content, what are you sharing with your audience?
Inbound marketing is composed of several stages and for the purposes of the strategies you will take away today – we are going to focus on 1) attraction 2) convert.
Content is a critical part of your Inbound Marketing strategy. If done well, content makes people read, share and come back for more. Marketing is no longer driven by space – with social media for example space is abundant. And, to some degree has made the space noisier and maybe even slightly difficult. Therefore, instead of fighting for space, marketers need to strategize content that attracts viewers to solutions and people.
Where is the Best Place to Start?
Start by creating a routine to follow on a regular basis. The more content you create, the better. And with each piece of content you create the process become easier.Now, building out a strategy does take more upfront energy, but it will pay off as time goes by.
The first stage to create content for your network marketing business is planning.
Your plan should cover three (3) main topics;
When it comes to the word purpose, decide what your goal is.
What will be the driving force once you start to create content? What are you hoping to have happen? Is it to gain more engagement on Facebook Live? Alternatively, is it to attract more recruits instead of customers? Decide your purpose before anything else – even before you start to create content.
Another focus should now be on the word format.
Content formats are plentiful. Examples are testimonials, videos, guides, Facebook posts and webinars. The difference between these formats is very slight. Most of all, you can tell your story using any of them. Select a format based on how much time you have to create it, how much information you have to present and who you create content for.
Lastly, what will your topic be?
This is often the most difficult piece of the puzzle. What should you write or record about? In case you missed a recent post we did on Facebook Live topics – this would be a great opportunity to check it out >> Here (and ask about the free PDF top 50+ list too!)
When it comes time to create content, the topic choices really are endless. The simplicity in it is finding what you are good at, and teach that, talk about that, show that. We know you will find out list mentioned above super helpful – so start there.
When we gain a better understanding of who are audience is, you can create the right content that specifically suits their needs (and wants).
This will automatically make your content solution-based, not product-based. You should strive to educate your audience and solve their problems. This means, when you create content it shouldn’t be focused on your products or business, but instead your potential customers including the challenges they face and answers to their questions.
Best Practices to Create Content for your Audience
1. Concentrate on creating content for your audience. Here’s a sample Worksheet to help keep you organized. While focussing on broad content may cast a wider reach, specific content attracts qualified followers who are more likely to engage and return. These are the viewers that are more likely to become customers or distributors.
2. Less is the new more. People are busy, when we make it easy for viewers to digest our content, we can start to create a better relationships with them. If you know your audience doesn’t have time to sit through a two (2) hour webinar or a 100 image slideshow, don’t overextend yourself to create them.
3. Awesome content is educational, it is not promotional. Value driven content is perfect for the beginning stages of the process. The relationship and buying stages will come – and when you create content the right way, those two stages will be a piece of cake.
4. Focus on the value in your content first, and worry about the design second. Of course we want our words to look pretty on the page, or our Facebook Live backdrop to be perfect. Don’t sweat the aesthetics – seriously. They will fall into place as time goes on.
Analyze your Content once Delivered
Like any strategy in network marketing, business, etc., you want to analyze and evaluate its effectiveness. Ask yourself the following questions;
- When you create content, are the right topics?
- Is your content in the right format?
- Are you distributing the content effectively?
Side note on the topic of distribution quickly, this means who is seeing your content. Are you sharing it with others? Is your Facebook page public? Are people able to message you after viewing? Perhaps you have forgotten to respond a comment on a video? Is your content shareable?
While, distribution shouldn’t just happen at the time of creation. The best part about creating certain types of content is it is referred to being evergreen. Meaning, what is valuable today will also be valuable a couple months from now. Don’t hesitate to share that content again!
Overall, create something that will help your target audiences and is relevant for your goals too. In creating valuable content, you become a trusted source and expert in that area. This is what you want your audience to know you for. Because, like we have said (and heard) time and again – people do business with people they know, like and trust.
In conclusion, we hope this information was valuable to you and would love to hear how you have been able to create content more effectively for your network marketing business. And, don’t forget to download the worksheet to help you stay on task!
